"I am an illustrator, printer, designer and entrepreneur.
In 2018 I launched my business ‘Katie Ireland Designs’ selling contemporary, hand-drawn prints and illustrations of architecture and landmarks.
As part of my degree in Fashion and Textiles, I specialise in garment design and print with in interest in both fashion and costume design. My textile designs are predominantly digital print and laser-cutting and my garment designs are heavily influenced by my architecture photography, travel, archive research and a desire to support local and be sustainable.
I have had a range of experience from teaching children’s workshops; working freelance as a costume trainee for film & TV and theatre; curatorial experience volunteering in the NMNI costume archives and event management experience as committee chair of the UUSU Fashion and Textiles Society. I am also a member of the Student Institute of Directors.
In 2019 I decided to co-found MALA, a business designing and making local, sustainable and functional pocket-bags, because sustainability, local design & industry and creative business are some of the most important things for me. As The Managing Director I wanted to build a team of creatives working to make design-driven products that have a positive environmental and social impact."
